Account Executive
Sales Manager - SMB Sales
Our client builds hiring and people management software for small businesses. If you've used enterprise HR software, you know the problem: it's bloated, expensive, and built for companies five times their size. Small business owners have felt that pain for years. Our client stripped all that away and built something fast to implement, affordable, and actually designed for how small teams work.
The GTM team is scaling. They need someone who can own the sales pipeline end-to-end - prospecting, conversations, closes - without needing constant direction.
The role
You'll own the full sales cycle from prospect to contract. This means finding the right opportunities (small and growing businesses that need to hire), qualifying them quickly, running conversations that actually move deals forward, and closing them. You'll build and manage your own pipeline. No hand-holding, no lead routing, no waiting for ops to prep the next call. You identify the companies, you run the conversations, you close the deal.
This is not a role where you execute someone else's playbook. It's a role where you build one as you go - testing what works with this customer segment and shipping what lands.
You'll also feed back what you're learning from customers into the product and marketing side. When a prospect tells you why they're comparing us to a competitor, or what feature would actually close the deal, that matters. The founders built this company from hiring and small business experience, and they listen hard to frontline sales input.
What we're looking for
You've sold something to small businesses before, ideally software or services they actually need to hire or manage people. You move fast in short sales cycles - weeks, not quarters. You're comfortable prospecting, qualifying, and closing on your own. You don't need hand-holding, clear processes, or six months of onboarding to contribute.
The strongest candidates have felt the problem firsthand - either because they worked at a small company and remember the pain of clunky HR tools, or because they've sold into that market and heard the frustration directly.
You're energised by building something simple and honest for customers who've been underserved. You notice overcomplicated software and have opinions about how it should work instead. You're not defensive about AI - you probably already use it in your actual work.
Logistics
Competitive salary + commission. Fully remote. Based in [location - flexible for the right hire].
If this sounds like the kind of work you want to do, send a short note about why you're interested and what small business customer you know best.
