Our client builds hiring and people management software for small businesses. The problem they solve is real: most founders running 20-person companies are either stitching together five different tools or paying enterprise prices for features they'll never use. The product strips out the bloat and costs a fraction of what incumbents charge.

They're growing fast and need someone to own the sales function end-to-end.

What You'll Do

You'll own the full sales cycle - from first conversation with a small business owner through to close. That means building pipeline, qualifying leads, running demos, negotiating terms, and hitting revenue targets on short cycles. You'll talk to founders every day who are genuinely frustrated with their current hiring process. Your job is to listen, understand what's actually broken in their world, and show them a better way.

You'll also shape how the company goes to market as the team scales. That's not a polite way of saying "gather feedback". It means you'll have a direct line to the product and leadership teams to influence what gets built next based on what you're hearing from customers.

This is a remote role. Salary is AUD 60,000-85,000 depending on experience.

What We're Looking For

You've sold before, and you've done it fast. Ideally you've worked in a startup where the sales cycle was measured in weeks, not quarters. You know how to build momentum without a huge support team behind you.

More importantly, you've worked in or closely with a small business. You know how a founder thinks - the resource constraints they're under, the trade-offs they make, why they're skeptical of software vendors. This isn't abstract market knowledge. You've felt it.

You're comfortable with ambiguity. The playbook isn't written yet. You'll figure it out as you go, talk to customers, test approaches, and iterate quickly.

You use AI tools in your actual work. Not as an experiment - as part of how you operate.

Red Flags We'll Ask About

If your entire career has been at large enterprise software companies with long sales cycles and dedicated support teams, you might find the pace and autonomy here unsettling rather than energising.

If you need established playbooks and significant onboarding time before you're productive, this probably isn't the right fit.

If you can't connect emotionally with why small business owners matter, we won't click.
