Social Media Manager - Auckland

Our client is a major e-commerce retailer operating across multiple markets, including New Zealand. They're looking for a Social Media Manager to join their Marketing and Brand team in Auckland and own their social presence end to end.

This is a content and channel ownership role - not support. You'll sit at the intersection of commercial storytelling, performance data, and fast-moving promotional cycles. You'll translate deal events, product launches, and seasonal moments into social content that actually drives traffic and converts.

What you'll own

  • The social media calendar across all active platforms. You plan content, shepherd it through approval, and publish on time - whether it's a quiet Tuesday or a peak promotional event.
  • Platform-specific content strategy. Instagram isn't TikTok isn't LinkedIn. You know the difference and you build for each channel accordingly.
  • The performance data. You track what works, what doesn't, and you act on it. Engagement rates, click-through, conversion - you own these numbers and you use them to iterate.
  • Cross-functional storytelling. Marketing campaigns, new product drops, seasonal events, vendor spotlights - you work with commercial, merchandising, and creative teams to turn these moments into social content that performs.
  • Community management and customer response. You represent the brand voice, handle inquiries, and keep the conversation moving.

What we're looking for

You've managed social channels for a commercial business at scale. You understand how social drives revenue, not just reach. You've run content through a full promotional cycle - Black Friday, Boxing Day, seasonal peaks - and you know how to adapt strategy on the fly when something isn't landing.

You're comfortable with data. You read your dashboards, you know which metrics matter, and you make decisions based on what you see, not gut feel. You work fast without sacrificing quality.

You can write. Not just captions - you think clearly about messaging, structure your ideas, and communicate with precision across channels. You understand how algorithm-driven feeds work and you think about your content as inputs into a system.

You've worked inside structure before. You don't need everything to be a blank canvas - you thrive when you have a clear brief, tight deadlines, and stakeholders to coordinate across.

The role is based in Auckland. You'll report into the Marketing and Brand team and work closely with commercial, merchandising, and creative partners.
