Sales Director

📍 Melbourne, Australia💼 Full-time

Sales Director, Melbourne

Our client is a global fintech infrastructure platform scaling their Australian commercial operations. They process payments, manage multi-currency funds, and enable payouts across borders for platforms, marketplaces, and financial service providers worldwide. The product is complex. The market opportunity is real. They need a Sales Director who can build a high-performing team from scratch and own the revenue outcome.

The Role

You'll own the full sales cycle for enterprise and mid-market accounts in Australia. That means prospecting, discovery, negotiation, and close. You'll also build the sales function itself - hiring the right people, setting standards, and creating a repeatable process that works for a platform-level product.

On the commercial side, you'll define the go-to-market approach for the region. This isn't about following a playbook from head office. You'll work with product, marketing, and solutions teams to figure out what actually sells in the Australian market, how to position the platform to different buyer types, and how to compete against both incumbents and newer entrants.

The product you're selling is infrastructure. Your buyers are technically sophisticated - they run platforms or marketplaces. They care about API design, settlement mechanics, compliance per jurisdiction, and whether the platform actually solves their cross-border payment problem. Sales cycles are typically 2-4 months. Deal sizes vary, but enterprise accounts matter.

What We're Looking For

You've sold complex B2B software or financial products to enterprise customers. You know how to build a sales team and can hire people who thrive in a technical environment. You understand that selling infrastructure is different from selling applications - your buyer is often a platform operator, not an end user.

You've worked in or around fintech, SaaS platforms, or payments. You're comfortable with regulated financial environments. You can explain why a payment succeeded but funds aren't yet available, and you understand why that matters to your customers.

You're in Melbourne or willing to relocate. You can start building immediately.

Why This Role

You're building something that doesn't yet exist - a sales function in a major market for a product that's genuinely differentiated. You'll have autonomy to shape how the team operates. You'll work with senior leadership directly and have real influence on product and go-to-market decisions. If you've felt constrained by playbooks or process, this is the antidote.

Comp is competitive and includes equity. We're looking for someone who can start in the next 4-6 weeks.
