Sales Manager

Our client builds AI-powered HR software for small businesses. They've cracked the problem that kept SMBs locked out of enterprise-grade hiring and people management tools - now they're growing the customer base, and they need a Sales Manager who closes deals themselves.

This is a hands-on role. You own the full sales motion: pipeline building, discovery calls, product demos, and closing. You'll hit monthly and quarterly revenue targets with clear accountability. You won't manage a team of closers while staying hands-off - you'll be the one doing the closing.

What you'll do:

Build and manage a pipeline of SMB prospects through a mix of inbound leads and self-generated outreach. You'll run discovery calls that actually diagnose what's broken in the customer's hiring process, not just pitch features. Product demos that matter - showing the specific workflows that solve their actual problems. Negotiate and close deals. Track pipeline health and forecast revenue accurately. Own the metrics that matter: conversion rates, deal size, sales cycle length.

The customer here isn't a Fortune 500 company with a dedicated HR operations team. It's a 50-person manufacturing business, a growing digital agency, a healthcare clinic. Their hiring process is still spreadsheets and email. That's who you're selling to, and you need to genuinely get why this software matters to them.

What we're looking for:

You've closed enterprise or mid-market deals before and you're comfortable with a shorter sales cycle and smaller deal size. You can move fast without process overhead. You know how to run a discovery call - how to listen for the real problem instead of leading with the pitch. You understand SMB buying - no committee of stakeholders, but the owner or founder is usually in the room and they're watching their cash flow closely.

You're self-directed and you build your own pipeline. You don't need a lead generation team feeding you qualified prospects - you can pick up the phone, send thoughtful outreach, and follow up without hand-holding. You track your own metrics and you're honest about pipeline health.

You genuinely care about the customer outcome, not just hitting quota. Small businesses aren't your backup option - they're the customer you want to serve. You're energized by the idea that your work means something to a real business owner trying to grow.

This is a fully remote role with a small, research-led team. Async communication matters. You'll report directly to the founder.
