Chrome extension: LinkedIn sourcing, capture and recognition

Signed in? Ask Lovelio this question inside the app - it answers from this same page.

The Add to Lovelio Chrome extension does three jobs. Source: it turns a Lovelio job into targeted LinkedIn searches and keeps the chosen job in a persistent side panel. Capture: one click adds the person on the current tab, or files the job ad being read as a BD lead. Recognition: on linkedin.com only, it quietly overlays what your agency already knows while you browse, with badges, warnings, fit scores and company history. It reads and annotates only. It never clicks, types, navigates or acts on any page for you, and it never touches your LinkedIn account.

Capturing people

Click the toolbar button, or right-click a page, link or selected text and choose "Add to Lovelio" (if the toolbar popup cannot open, the same form opens in a small window of its own). The popup reads the current page and opens a prefilled form for a person or job lead. A person becomes a candidate when you choose a job, a client contact when you choose a client, or both when you choose both. It recognises LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Reddit and GitHub profiles specifically, and falls back to the page title on any other site.

  • Name, title, company and location prefill from the page. On LinkedIn it reads the profile header; on X it reads the bio, location and follower details into the note; on Facebook it reads the intro and work section.
  • Candidates get a Location field with city and country autocomplete. Free-typed text always saves, so a lookup failure never blocks a capture.
  • On LinkedIn and Facebook profiles, an AI summary of the person appears in the popup: two or three sentences on who they are, with a longer skills-and-experience read behind "Show more". The summary saves onto the candidate's profile as their summary; for client contacts it goes into their notes.
  • Candidates can go straight onto a job from a dropdown of your open jobs, with the jobs you own listed first. The AI suggests the best-fitting job; a chosen job shows as a card naming the job, the client, and the one-line reason it was suggested, with a Change button to pick another. Your own pick always wins.
  • Client contacts attach to an existing client, or a new client is created from the Company field.
  • If the person is already in Lovelio, a banner says so with a link to the record. Saving never creates a twin: a duplicate candidate saved with a job selected is attached to that job instead, and your typed note still lands on their timeline.
  • A Dictate button on the Note field records a voice note and transcribes it into the note for you to review before saving. First use asks for microphone access; if the popup cannot show the prompt, a button opens a page that can.
  • "Show me people like this" on a profile opens your own candidates who look like the person you are reading: their job function, level, city and defining skills become an ordinary Lovelio search, opened in a new tab as chips you can loosen or tighten. It is the same search you get by typing, so nothing about the results is special or hidden. To search from several people at once, capture them, then select them on the People page and choose Find people like these.
  • Facebook reads are professional facts only: education, employer, title, location. The personal side is ignored, and your own account can never be mistaken for the person being captured.

Capturing BD leads

On a job-ad page the popup opens straight onto the BD lead tab, prefilled with title, company, location and salary. Big boards are recognised by URL (LinkedIn Jobs, Seek, Indeed, Glassdoor, Jora, Totaljobs, Reed), hosted-ATS career pages by host (Greenhouse, Lever, Workable and similar), and a company's own careers pages by their shape; when the read is unsure or thin, a quick AI pass reads the page and fills the gaps. Saving as a BD lead files it in the Opportunities Inbox, tells you the estimated fee where a salary was found, and matches it against your own candidates: the success screen names candidates who already fit, or says none match yet. If the advertiser is already your client, it says so. An advertiser that already has a lead comes back as a duplicate rather than a second lead, and an ad placed by another recruitment agency is refused. BD lead capture is part of AI business development, included in the one Lovelio plan; without an active plan the tab is hidden and job-ad pages fall back to capturing the person.

Creating a job from highlighted text

See a job you want to run? Highlight the ad or description on any page - a job board, a client's careers page, LinkedIn, or a job description a client emailed you in Gmail - then either right-click and choose "Create job from highlighted text", or open the popup and click the same button. A Lovelio tab opens straight into the job wizard with your highlighted text already in place. The wizard asks which client the job is for (every job belongs to a client, and the ad is written in that client's voice) - and if the page you highlighted is on a client's own website, their careers page say, Lovelio recognises the domain and picks that client for you. You can change it in the wizard, and if the domain is shared or could belong to two of your clients it asks as normal. Then it drafts the whole job from the text: description, criteria, interview questions, ad and social posts, with any gaps asked as quick questions before you confirm. The highlighted text feeds that one draft and expires within a day if you never confirm; nothing is created until you do.

Recognition on LinkedIn

A small Lovelio card appears bottom-right. It is dismissable and stays silent when you are signed out.

  • Profile pages: if the person is in Lovelio, the card shows who last contacted them ("Last contact: Dom" - on a migrated database that is the consultant who worked them at your old system, not whoever ran the import), when they were last updated, and any live application with its stage, plus an "Open in Lovelio" link. If they work at one of your clients, a red off-limits warning appears: hands off. Someone Lovelio has never seen is labelled "Not in Lovelio yet".
  • Every profile carries a "Show me people like this" button, whether the person is in Lovelio or a total stranger: it opens your own candidates who match their role, level, city and skills. A stranger is often exactly when it pays, because you may already have three of them.
  • Job sourcing: open a job, choose Candidates, then click "Find candidates". Lovelio compiles the full structured job requirements through its shared search engine and builds four materially different LinkedIn search lanes: closest matches, adjacent talent, feeder companies and hidden gems. Each lane explains what it targets and what, if anything, it broadens. It never quietly drops a hard requirement.
  • LinkedIn account awareness: normal LinkedIn opens a broad title or skill search and shows a recipe for its location, company, industry and seniority filters. Full Recruiter gets a natural-language AI-assisted search. Recruiter Lite gets a starting job title and an exact recipe for its guided filters. Lovelio remembers which product the extension last saw. The extension never types, clicks or submits anything on LinkedIn.
  • Active sourcing run: launching a lane detects the installed extension live, opens Chrome's persistent Lovelio side panel and keeps that job and lane active for 24 hours. Search results stay read-only because their summary does not contain enough evidence for a trustworthy assessment. Known people and client off-limits warnings still appear beside their names. Open a profile to get the full score out of 100, strong / possible / weak fit verdict, reasons and Add to job action; the same side panel updates without closing. The score uses the same criteria-weighted Sonnet job-fit evaluator as Lovelio's saved candidate assessments, including the job description, job criteria and Client DNA. The generated search finds likely people, but it does not guarantee that each LinkedIn result is a strong fit. You do not need to open the toolbar popup. A candidate already on the job is never re-attributed.
  • Learning loop: after a run, tell Lovelio whether the results were good, at the wrong seniority or location, from the wrong industry, missing key experience, or better suited to another role. The next plan uses that feedback. The job sourcing panel counts searches, captures, Yes decisions, submissions, interviews and placements, so the agency learns which lanes actually place people.
  • Manual sourcing mode still works: choose a job in the popup and click "Source this job" to show fit and Add to job on LinkedIn without launching a planned search. Click "Stop sourcing" to end it; a job that closes stops automatically.
  • People search results: known people get a pink "in Lovelio" pill next to their name, while people at clients are marked hands off. Lovelio never assesses or adds from summary data. The side panel asks you to open a full profile and counts how many results were checked and already known.
  • Company pages: a history card shows client status, how long they have been a client, placements, live jobs, and key contacts. For non-clients it shows warm paths in: candidates in your database whose current employer matches the company.
  • Sighting signals: viewing the profile of someone already in Lovelio records a structured observation (employer, title, open to work). When that differs from what Lovelio knew, a signal fires on the spot and shows in the card: job change spotted, promotion spotted, or open to work. Every signal writes a note on the candidate's timeline and notifies the candidate's owner. The candidate record itself is never silently rewritten. Looking at an unchanged profile again within seven days records nothing.

Privacy and posture

  • Never drive LinkedIn. The extension never clicks, submits, navigates or fires events on LinkedIn. Its Add to job button is Lovelio's own control and writes only after the consultant clicks it; merely viewing a page never creates or changes a record.
  • Standing access is LinkedIn only. On every other site it reads the page once, only when you click capture.
  • Strangers are looked up and forgotten. Lookups store nothing; sightings attach only to people already in Lovelio.
  • Raw page text used for a summary, fit score, lead parse, or lookalike search is discarded after that processing. Saving a record keeps the extracted fields and Lovelio's professional summary. Creating a job from highlighted text keeps that selected text in the job draft you requested.
  • It talks to Lovelio alone. No other site is ever contacted, and no broad browser permissions (tabs, history, cookies) are requested.

Install and sign-in

The first install explains what the extension reads and asks you to choose "Allow and continue". Until you agree, capture actions and the LinkedIn recognition layer stay off.

Once set up, the extension rides your normal Lovelio sign-in: if you are signed in to Lovelio in that browser, the extension just works, and no tokens or passwords are stored in it. Signed out, the popup shows a button that opens the normal Lovelio sign-in page, and the LinkedIn overlay goes silent. The popup footer shows your email, agency and the extension version.

Lovelio runs in three regions (US, EU, ANZ) and your account lives in one of them. You never have to say which: the extension finds the region holding your session on its own and remembers it. The region row in the popup is there so you can see which one you are on, and to switch if you happen to have accounts in more than one region.

Common questions

  • Does it message or connect with people for me? No. It never acts on any page. Capture and recognition are read-only.
  • Can my client see who I capture? No. Everything goes only to your own Lovelio account.
  • Why is the BD lead tab missing? BD lead capture needs an active Lovelio plan; a cancelled plan hides it.
  • Why does nothing show on a LinkedIn profile? You are signed out of Lovelio in that browser, or you dismissed the card on this page.
  • Why does the sourcing side panel say to reload LinkedIn? The current tab did not connect to the extension. Reload that LinkedIn tab once. The active job stays selected and the panel resumes automatically.
  • Why does the toolbar popup close? Chrome closes extension popups whenever you click elsewhere. Sourcing does not use the popup: Start search opens Chrome's persistent Lovelio side panel, which stays visible while you work.
  • It asks me to sign in when I am already signed in. That was a bug, fixed on 5 August 2026: the popup was calling lovelio.ai, which serves the website and passes the call to one fixed region, so anyone whose account lived elsewhere was told to sign in. Reload the extension at chrome://extensions to pick up the fix.
  • The lookalike search found nobody. The chips at the top of the results say what it searched for. Click one off, starting with the skills, and the pool widens.
  • Does a lookalike search tell LinkedIn anything? No. It reads the page you already have open and searches your own database. Nothing is sent to LinkedIn and the page is left untouched.
  • The suggested job is wrong. Pick the right one; a manual pick is never overridden.
  • I captured someone twice. Lovelio detects the duplicate and links you to the existing record instead of creating a twin.
