What is an agentic ATS?
An agentic ATS is an applicant tracking system that AI agents can work inside, not just read from. Every action a recruiter can take on screen, an agent can take too, through a full API and an MCP server, under the same permissions and activity history, with a person in charge of anything that matters.
Most recruitment software was built for people clicking through screens. Adding a chat box to that does not change much, because the agent still cannot do the work. Lovelio was built the other way round. Every screen runs on the same public API, so an agent can source, screen, submit and log placements with the permissions you give it, while your consultants spend their time with clients and candidates.
What makes an ATS agentic
Plenty of software now has AI features. An agentic ATS is different because agents can take real actions across the whole system. Look for three things.
- Every action is open. Jobs, candidates, applications, interviews, submissions and placements can be read and updated by an agent, not only by a person on a screen.
- Permissions are explicit. You choose what an agent can see and what it can change, and you can switch it off at any time.
- Everything is logged. Every action an agent takes shows in the same activity history as your team's work, so you always know who did what and when.
What an agent can do on a recruitment desk
These are jobs agents handle well today. You stay in charge of anything that goes to a client or a candidate.
- Search your own database for people who fit a new job, including people you placed or floated years ago.
- Read every new application against the job and score it, so you start with the best five, not the first fifty.
- Turn a one-line brief into a draft spec, job ad and interview plan for you to review.
- Log calls and notes, move candidates between stages and set the follow-up.
- Build a shortlist and draft the candidate summaries for your client.
- Record the placement with the fee, start date and guarantee period.
- Tell you each morning what changed and what needs your attention.
Safe by design
An agent should never be able to do more than the person who connected it. In Lovelio, that is how it works.
- Agents connect by signing in to Lovelio and an admin approving them on a consent page. No password or API key is handed to the agent.
- You choose read or write permissions, and you can clear any you do not need.
- Agents follow the same rules as your team and can never do something the person who connected them could not do.
- Every agent action is logged in the activity history.
- You can disconnect an agent at any time and access stops straight away.
Works with any agent you choose
Lovelio uses MCP, the Model Context Protocol. It is an open standard, not one company's product. Any desktop app, code editor or agent that speaks MCP connects to the same Lovelio server URL, and switching to a different one later changes nothing on Lovelio's side. Connecting takes about two minutes. You should not have to pick your ATS based on which assistant is popular this quarter.
Keep your current ATS if you like
You do not have to switch everything at once. You can run Lovelio alongside the system you already use. Lovelio copies your data in, works on your new jobs and tells you when candidates and clients change jobs. It is a low-risk way to see what agents can do with your own data.
What to look for in an agentic ATS
| What to look for | How Lovelio does it |
|---|---|
| A full API under every screen | Every Lovelio screen runs on the same public API: 262 operations, published as an OpenAPI 3.1 spec. |
| An MCP server for agents | One server URL for every agency, in every region. Any MCP client can connect. |
| Sign-in and consent, not shared keys | Agents sign in through a Lovelio consent page that an admin approves. |
| Permissions you control | Read-only or read and write, and you can clear any permission you do not need. |
| A person in charge | Agents draft jobs for your review before they go live, and only act with the write permissions you approve. |
| A full activity history | Every agent action sits in the same history as your team's work. |
| Events agents can react to | Webhooks for the things that happen, like new applications and placements. |
| No charge per agent | Every plan includes unlimited users and AI agents. |
Agentic ATS vs traditional ATS
| Topic | Traditional ATS | Agentic ATS |
|---|---|---|
| Finding candidates | You build a Boolean search and scroll the results | You ask for your strongest fits and get a ranked list with reasons |
| After a call | You type up notes and move the stage yourself | You say what happened and the agent logs it, moves the stage and sets the follow-up |
| Shortlists | Built by hand and emailed | Built and summarised by the agent, then sent once you approve |
| Reporting | Tells you what happened last month | Tells you what needs your attention today |
| Who can use it | People on screens | People and AI agents, under the same permissions |
Questions
Is an agentic ATS the same as an AI ATS?
Not quite. Many tools sold as an AI ATS add features inside the app, like CV parsing or a writing assistant. An agentic ATS goes further and lets agents take actions across the whole system, under your permissions. Lovelio does both.
Will an agentic ATS replace recruiters?
No. Agents replace admin. Recruitment is still a relationship business, and clients still buy from people they trust. An agentic ATS gives your consultants more hours for that work.
Which AI agents work with Lovelio?
Any agent or app that speaks MCP, the open Model Context Protocol. Lovelio is not tied to one AI provider, so you can change agents later without changing anything in Lovelio.
Is my candidate data safe with an agent?
An agent only gets the permissions you approve on the Lovelio consent page. Every action is logged, it can never do more than the person who connected it, and you can disconnect it at any time.
Do I need to be technical to use an agentic ATS?
No. You talk to the agent in plain English, for example "How is the Product Manager role going?" If you can write an email, you can use an agentic ATS.
Can I try it without moving my data?
Yes. Every plan starts with 14 days free and no card needed, and you can run Lovelio alongside your current ATS while you try it.
