Create menu and the command bar (Cmd+K)

Two things start work from any page: the Create menu and the command bar. Both are in every dashboard page.

How to create something from anywhere

Click Create in the top bar (on a phone, tap the floating button in the corner), or press C when you are not typing in a box.
Pick an item, or use the arrow keys and Enter.

The menu has seven items, each with a letter shown beside it. Press the letter with the menu open to jump straight there.

New job (J) opens the job builder.
New candidate (C) opens the new candidate form.
New application (A) opens the new application form.
New client (L) opens Clients with the add form ready.
New contact (T) opens Clients with the add contact form ready.
Create placement (P) opens the Placements tab on Clients with the log form ready.
New call (V) opens the new call window over whatever page you are on. See the Calls card.

Escape closes the menu. Clicking anywhere else closes it too.

It fills itself in from where you are

On a job page, New candidate and New application attach to that job. The menu says so at the bottom.
On a candidate page, New application uses that candidate.
On any other page, the forms start empty.

Why the C key sometimes does nothing

The C shortcut stays quiet when you are typing in a box, when a panel or dialog is open, and when C comes straight after another letter (so a sentence you are typing never opens the menu). Letters inside the open menu also wait a moment after it opens, for the same reason. Arrow keys and Enter always work.

How to use the command bar

Press Cmd+K (Ctrl+K on Windows) on any desktop page. Press it again to close it.
Type what you want: open a record, start something, or ask a question. The box says "Open a record, start something, or ask a question...".
Press Enter or click the arrow.

Known commands run straight away, for example "Create a new job", "Show my open jobs" or "Open James Brown". If more than one record matches a name, you get a short list to choose from. Anything that needs thinking carries on as a conversation with Ask Lovelio. Escape closes the box. The Ask box in the top bar runs the same commands. On a phone there is no top bar. The floating button opens the command box instead.

Common questions

Where did the Create button go on the left menu? On desktop it lives in the top bar only.
Which opens a form and which just creates? Every Create item only opens its form. Nothing is saved until you save it.
