Split-fee Marketplace

The Marketplace is where agencies on Lovelio trade work with each other: share a job you cannot fill or a candidate you cannot place, anonymously, and split the fee with the agency that completes the other half. It has its own left-rail destination when enabled, with four views: "Jobs" and "Candidates" (other agencies' live anonymous listings), "Your listings" (manage your own, one kind at a time via a Candidates/Jobs switch), and "Intros & deals". Lovelio takes 0% of every fee, never invoices, collects, holds, or transfers money, and never arbitrates disputes. The two agencies deal with each other directly; Lovelio provides the board, the anonymisation, the records, and the timestamps.
The Marketplace is an opt-in module, off by default. Trading work with other agencies is not how every agency runs, so nothing marketplace-related shows until an admin turns it on: Settings > Integrations > Split-fee Marketplace. When it is off there is no Marketplace item on the left rail and no "Share to marketplace" items on job or candidate menus - they are hidden, not locked. The Marketplace also needs an active Lovelio plan: on a cancelled plan the module stays hidden even when the switch is on, and the settings card says so.
How it works
Sharing a listing. Share a job or a candidate from its record menu. Lovelio also suggests it, once ever per record, when a role has been open 30+ days with a thin pipeline or a strong runner-up has no live role - the home page card for an aging role opens a "Review the role" slideout (days open, who is still in the pipeline, the marketplace state) with the share one click away, and sharing clears the card. The share modal opens with an AI-written anonymous draft (headline, up to 6 quick facts, pitch) that you edit before sending, plus location, currency, a salary range, and the fee as a percent of first-year salary. You choose the split the listing owner keeps: 50/50, 60/40, 70/30, or 80/20 (it defaults to 50/50). A candidate can only be shared if you tick the box confirming they know they are being represented externally. Only live roles can be listed, and one live listing per job or candidate at a time. Before your agency's first share or intro, someone must accept the Lovelio Split Terms once for the whole agency (once per terms version); every deal records the terms version in force when it formed.
Anonymity. Every listing is anonymous. On a job listing the hiring client is never named, including the agency's own internal roles; the posting agency IS named on the card. On a candidate listing the scrub removes the candidate's name, current employer, every past employer from their employment history, and educational institutions, because "6 years at Deloitte, then BHP" identifies a person as surely as naming them. Location is cut back to the region and country ("New South Wales, Australia") - never the street address or postcode a CV gave you, which would point at the candidate's front door. The scrub runs on the server on every share regardless of how the copy was written, and an AI moderation gate then reviews everything before it goes live. Moderation fails closed: if it rejects the copy or cannot run, the listing does not go live and you see the reason. It also rejects URLs, email addresses, and phone numbers. Generalised descriptions like "a Big 4 firm" or "a global SaaS platform" are the right way to write listings and pass moderation.
Browsing and matching. The Jobs and Candidates views are a board: one row per listing with location, salary, the split, and your estimated share if you place it, sorted biggest share first. A scoreboard above the board counts what is live, what fits your market, what is new this week, and what closes within 14 days, and filter chips narrow the board to Fits Your Market, Remote, or New this week. The Market fit column shows how many of your own records fit each listing; clicking a row opens the full listing with the money summary and every fit named. For a job listing the fits are your matching candidates (each with a one-click "Put them forward"); for a candidate listing they are your open jobs it could fill. Matching runs entirely inside your own database against the listing's public anonymous text; no cross-tenant data moves.
Intros. On a job listing you submit one of your candidates: an anonymous profile you edit before sending, plus a required attestation that you have interviewed them and they agreed to be represented. On a candidate listing you request an intro. Your note is scrubbed and moderated too. Duplicates are blocked (one live submission per candidate per listing, one open request per agency per candidate listing). The listing owner is notified, and on a submission gets an AI fit read comparing the two anonymous texts. You can withdraw a pending intro. Pending intros get one nudge to the owner at 5 days and expire at 14 days if unanswered; if a listing is withdrawn, filled, or expires, its pending intros close immediately and each sender hears the real reason.
Prior knowledge and reveal-on-accept. Identity is revealed only when a deal forms. Before accepting a submission, the owner can run a prior-knowledge check: Lovelio matches the candidate's email and phone against the owner's own database and says whether they already have this person and when that record was added, without revealing anything. On a candidate-listing request the check runs against the requesting agency's database instead, and is stamped on the deal when the owner accepts. Accepting an intro waives a prior-knowledge objection (Split Terms clause 5), so the moment to say "I already knew them" is before accepting. The check result is stamped on every deal.
Deals. Accepting an intro forms the deal: an immutable record of the split, fee percent, salary band, currency, terms version, the revealed candidate identity, both consultants' contact details, the prior-knowledge result, and a 12-month introduction protection window. On a submission deal the candidate is copied into the owner's tenant as a real candidate and application (deduped by email and phone against records the owner already holds), landing at the Yes stage and tagged as marketplace-sourced; automated candidate-facing email never fires at that candidate, since they never applied to that agency. Stage changes are copied to the deal automatically: as the application moves through submitted, client interview, offer, or closes as rejected or withdrew, the other agency sees factual updates. Either side can close an unplaced deal, with a reason the other side reads; a placed deal never closes that way, it completes through the guarantee lifecycle.
Placement and money. When the placement is recorded, the deal is stamped with the shared money snapshot: salary, actual fee, the partner's share, and start date, so both sides bill from identical numbers. Correcting the placement figures later re-stamps the deal and notifies the other side. Under the Split Terms the placing agency pays the partner's share within 14 days of receiving the client's money, and the partner invoices the placing agency directly. The deal carries a paid/received handshake: the placing agency marks the share paid, the receiving agency marks it received, both timestamps visible to both sides. If the placement falls off in guarantee, the Split Terms (clause 6) say any client refund flows through the split in the same proportion, and the other side is notified of the fall-off. If an agency places a candidate whose identity was revealed to them, inside the 12-month window, without linking the placement to the deal, the disclosing agency is notified of that fact.
Sending a listing to an outside agency. You can send one of your own live listings to a partner agency not on Lovelio, by email, as a tokenised link; the partner opens it straight from the email without a Lovelio account. The portal shows only the anonymous snapshot and the split; your personal message is scrubbed the same way. The link expires when the listing does, and the portal re-checks the listing is live on every open. The partner responds interested or passed; the first response is final (they can add a follow-up note) and their reply reaches you. An interested outside partner works the deal with you off-platform.
Listing lifecycle. Listings expire 30 days after the last "this is still real" attestation; renewing extends 30 days and re-checks the source job or candidate is still live. You can pause, resume, withdraw, or mark a listing filled. Closing or filling the job, or deleting the candidate, takes the listing off the board automatically. Cancelling your Lovelio plan withdraws your live listings.
Common questions
- How do I turn the Marketplace on? An admin flips the switch at Settings > Integrations > Split-fee Marketplace. It is off for every new agency until someone does.
- What does Lovelio charge? Nothing. 0% forever, and it never touches the money.
- Who sees my client's name? Nobody. The client is never named on a job listing, in any field, even after a deal forms.
- When does the other agency learn who my candidate is? Only when the listing owner accepts the intro and the deal forms.
- What if they already had my candidate? The prior-knowledge check surfaces that before the reveal so the intro can be declined cleanly; accepting waives the objection.
- What splits can I offer? 50/50, 60/40, 70/30, or 80/20, owner's share first.
- Why did my listing disappear? It hit 30 days and expired, its job was filled or closed, its candidate was removed, or your agency's plan was cancelled. Renew it from "Your listings" if it is still real.
