Settings > Notifications: what each switch does

Signed in? Ask Lovelio this question inside the app - it answers from this same page.

These are YOUR switches. Every person on the team sets their own, and the page is always visible whatever your user type. Each switch saves the moment you click it (you see "Saving..." then "Saved"). There is no save button. For the bell, the notifications page and the activity feed, see the Home help card.

Find it at Settings > You > Notifications. The unsubscribe link in the footer of a notification email lands on this same page.

What the page holds

Three cards:

  • In-App Notifications - one switch, "All in-app notifications".
  • Sound - one switch and a list of sounds.
  • Email Notifications - five switches.

Everything is on by default.

How to stop the bell filling up

Switch off "All in-app notifications". New notifications stop landing in your bell. It is all or nothing: there is no per-type setting for the bell. Turn it back on and new ones arrive again; anything that happened while it was off is not added later.

How to choose what lands in my email

Use the five switches under Email Notifications. Each one covers a group of events:

  • New applications - a new application arriving, an application being scored, a candidate being added, a reference red flag, and a client viewing, answering or asking a question about a submission.
  • Interview reminders - an interview being scheduled and interview reminders.
  • Offer responses - a candidate accepting or declining an offer. Placement win emails are separate and do not use this switch.
  • Candidate replies - a candidate replying to you.
  • Opportunities - business development opportunities.

Anything else that sends an email uses neither switch and follows the default (on) when it does send.

Some events never send a notification email to anyone, whatever your switches say, because they already have their own email or are bell-only: talent pool join requests, rejections that are due, interview cancellations, interview no-shows and marketplace share suggestions.

Why am I not getting notification emails?

Go through these in order:

  1. The right Email Notifications switch is on for you.
  2. Your agency has the "Email notifications to your team" automation switched on. It is OFF by default for a new agency. An admin turns it on at Settings > Hiring > Emails. Until it is on, no one on the team gets these emails, whatever their own switches say.
  3. Demo and data-import accounts keep the bell but never send email.

Your own switches only ever narrow what the agency sends. They cannot switch the agency's setting on.

How to set a notification sound

The Sound card has one switch, "Play a sound when something stops you". It plays when something stops you and needs an answer. With the switch on, you get a list of sounds: Cash register, Chime, Two notes and Knock. Click a name to choose it. Choosing plays it, and the small play button next to each name lets you hear one without picking it. Turn the switch off for no sound at all.

How to stop emails from the footer link

Click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of a notification email. It opens this page. Switch off the group you do not want.
