Web sourcing: finding people outside your database
Signed in? Ask Lovelio this question inside the app - it answers from this same page.
Web sourcing finds people who fit a search or a job and are not in your database yet. Nobody joins your database, a job or a pool until you add them. The full tab walkthroughs are on the People and Jobs cards; this card is the short version plus the money and the settings.
How do I find people on the web?
- Go to People and type your search in the one search box, for example "account managers in Sydney".
- Open the On the web tab. The search stays when you switch tabs.
- Click a row to open the person's public profile. Use the arrows at the top to walk the list.
The search needs a job title or a place. Nothing is searched until you open the tab, because each page of results costs AI credits. At the end of a search on Your database, "Search the web" runs the same search on the web.
How do I find people for one job?
- Open the job.
- Click Find candidates (or Find people on a job past your first ten).
- Open the On the web tab. It ranks people against the job's requirements with the same search engine as your database.
Twenty people show first, then twelve more at a time as you scroll, up to fifty. Anything a public profile cannot show, such as salary or notice period, is named at the top and left out of the ranking. Your first ten jobs have people found for you as soon as the job is ready.
How do I search LinkedIn?
- On People, open the LinkedIn tab.
- Pick the LinkedIn you use: LinkedIn, Recruiter Lite or Recruiter.
- Click "Search LinkedIn". LinkedIn opens with your search typed or copied.
Lovelio never reads LinkedIn's results. Capture people with the Chrome extension and they land in your database. The tab lists the people already in your database who came from LinkedIn and match the search. It needs a job title or a skill.
How do I add someone I found?
- Click "Add to the database" on the People page. The add box lets you also put them on one job and in any talent pools in the same click.
- On a job's On the web tab, click Add to job, or Add to talent pool and pick a pool.
- Someone already on file shows "In your database" or "Already in your database". Open their record instead.
Their public profile is saved on the record exactly as they wrote it, with the date it was saved. Lovelio never edits it. The source on the candidate reads "Web search".
How do I get their email or mobile number?
Contact details are looked up in the background after you add someone, once per person.
- On the People page add box, "Find their" has three tiles: Work email, Personal email and Mobile. Untick them all and nothing is looked up.
- On a job, adding to the job or a pool looks up every kind your agency allows.
- The first detail found fills the candidate's email and phone when they are empty. Details you typed are never overwritten.
- Mobile only works when an admin has turned it on.
What does it cost?
- A page of up to twelve people: 18 AI credits. The same page again within seven days is free.
- A work email found: 6. A personal email: 15. A mobile: 45.
- A lookup that finds nothing is free.
How do I set the mobiles switch or the daily limit?
- Go to Settings > Hiring > Web Sourcing. You need the permission to manage settings and teams.
- Click Edit.
- Tick "Look up mobile numbers too" to turn mobiles on.
- Change "Most AI credits spent on web sourcing in a day". It is 1,000 until an admin changes it. The range is 0 to 200,000.
- Click Save changes, or Cancel.
The page shows how many credits were used today. Past the limit, searches stop until tomorrow in your agency's time zone, and people you add still land on the job without a contact lookup.
Can I do this from the assistant or the API?
Yes. Ask Lovelio, Cmd+K and Slack can find candidates on the web and add them to a job, a pool or the database, through the same actions, with the same prices and the same daily limit.
Troubleshooting
- The tab says to add a title or a place. Add one to your search.
- The tab says the daily limit is reached. Ask an admin to raise it in Settings > Hiring > Web Sourcing, or wait until tomorrow.
- No mobile was found. Mobiles are off, or Lovelio has no LinkedIn link for that person.
